Keeping the new house clean

Working with your client to keep their new space clean can be a great way to keep their home in good shape and to motivate them. Your client can do this by decluttering their space, spending at least one day a week cleaning their new home, and always having multi purpose cleaners available.

SAFETY WITH APPLIANCES

It is worth taking the time to review basic safety regarding appliances with your clients. Here is a good Tip Sheet to print out and share with them regarding safety hazards with refrigerators, stoves, microwaves and other small appliances.

Fires and floods

It is important to stress the importance of fires and floods to your clients and have them prevent these things from happening. One way is to keep flammable objects away from all heat sources and making sure they have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. If your client notices water from another unit it is important to have them contact their landlord right away before the damage worsens. Some of the main causes of floods are broken pipes, poor drainage, clogged rain gutters, and the weather. Check out Tip Sheet #2.

Pests & Rodents

The best way to control an outbreak it to prevent it from happening in the first spot. Some important things to remind your clients is to keep food sealed, clean up crumbs, and to keep doors shut to avoid anything getting in. Another type of infestation that it is important to avoid is that of bed bugs. These types of bugs can live anywhere in your home and can be very harmful. Check out Tip Sheet #3 and share with your clients.
